Q & A with TMG (AKA The Modern Girl).

As well as writing up product reviews and taking snaps of the new brands or products we stock, we love finding and sharing other bloggers, websites and bits and bobs so you can be in the know for where to look for everything cruelty free related. You can check out some of these blog posts here and here. They are super helpful if you need advice on where to look for recipes, CF information, clothing and lifestyle extras.

We thought it could be a pretty rad idea to take advantage of the cool people around us and get to know them a little better by picking their brains and finding out a little more about why they do the things they do and what they love.
This week we sat down with NZs very own Modern Girl to chat a little about her blog, The Modern Girl, her personal favourites and what makes her tick.

1. So miss TMG, We know you have a cruelty free tab on your blog, which we of course love, What made you want to provide info around CF products to your readers?

It was more of a reflection of where I am heading as a consumer. I struggle with the concept that in 2015 we still test beauty products (and more) on animals and even though on the blog I share some of my beauty favs that I have used for a long time , I am conciosuly making that effort to transition into being 100% cruelty free. Time and time again I will go out and replace a product without even asking the question "Is it cruelty free" - so this is an ideal start for me.

2. When it comes to daily rituals, Some of us need a coating of mascara, others a good day cream, some a bright bold lippy to Get them ready in the morning, What beauty or skincare items do you reach for daily?

At the moment I have stripped my make up right back - It is summer after all. My must have daily items are Revitalash to protect and nourish my lashes, followed by some good mascara and of course sunscreen is a daily must have essential. I have recently started using the Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara after reading some great reviews and am impressed. So far so good. Of course Deodorant is a must too. The EcoTan deo. is a fave as it is so easy to use and smells yummy.

3. Aside from your daily rituals, what tips or tricks can you pass on that you have picked up along your TMG journey?

I have spent a lot of time playing with make-up and getting my make-up done and have picked up some awesome tricks.

My number one trick is when it comes to applying mascara. I take an old eftpos card and place it between my lashes and my eyelid whilst applying mascara pushing the lashes up against the card. This helps me coat the lashes really well getting mascara from root to tip without leaving black all over my eye lids. Try this trick it really makes a difference.

Secondly, I apply my moisturiser with a foundation brush. There are a few reasons behind this but firstly the use of the brush stimulates the blood vessels in my face promoting skin renewal and is a great way to 'wake up' in the morning. The foundation brush also gets the moisturiser in around the tight spots like my nose which my hands just seem to glide over.

4. You have been one of our biggest fans from the beginning, can you tell us your top 3 favourite SLCF items?

This is a toughie. I am a huge fan of the Tailor Masque and will use this on a weekly basis. My latest obsession however is the Go Bamboo toothbrush - cleaning my teeth is now pretty hip thanks to this guy. Of course the Hurraw Balm gets used on the daily and I have quite the collection.

5. Lastly, what item is next on your SLCF to try list?

I am tossing up between two items actually! - The Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Nail polish in Anime or the LimeLilly Eyeshadow in DragonFly, this shimmer shadow has been on my Wishlist for a very long time now.

Much love to miss TMG!

Until Next week kitties,
